Welcome to Laboratory of Computer's Graphics!

Laboratory of Computer Graphics Lobachevsky State University of Nizhni Novgorod was established in 2006. The main goals of laboratory are research in computer graphics and scientific visualization, computer vision and image processing
The head of laboratory is professor Turlapov Vadim.

Research areas

  • Interactive modeling of virtual and augmented reality, complex scenes on parallel GPU and heterogeneous clusters. Real-time renderers.
  • Scientific visualization and 3D-reconstruction in medicine, biology, physics (gas and hydrodynamics, etc.).
  • Virtual anatomic table. Creation of 3D-tracking of medical, radiation health and telemedicine systems (for education).
  • Design automation of spatial mechanisms: modeling of kinematics and dynamics (with stereo playback of the motion) and optimized landing gear, manipulators, Stewart platforms, including CAD-environments (AutoCAD, Inventor, ...) and mathematical programming environment (Matlab, ...)
  • The Laboratory performed also a number of research projects. In 2010 we started quite a large project on Computational Biomedicine under a government contract and a proactive project to create a GPU-algorithms for calculating global illumination in real time for dynamic scenes.

    2006: a successful participation in an international competition for video surveillance ETISEO.
    2007: creation of educational materials on the course of Computer Graphics with a laboratory practicum (was supported by Russian branch of Intel).
    2008-2010: number of schools in computer graphics commissioned by Russian branch of Intel were performed for students of Russian universities.
    2010: the Allrussian Scientific School for Youth "Computer vision, 3D modeling and computer graphics" by contract of the Government of Russia.
    2011: Scientific-practical conference " Application of hybrid high-performance computingto solve scientific and engineering problems";
    Participation in the exhibition "Innovative Russia. Science and Technology." in Madrid(Spain) with a competitive visualizer of tomograms and scientific data on the basis of Volume Rendering.
